“In response to God’s call to love one another, we provide food, clothing, nutritional information and links to programs to empower people in need within in the Greater Carlisle Area.“
This is the mission of Project SHARE (Survival Help And Recipient Education), which is an interfaith, cooperative effort that started in 1985 in an effort to serve those less fortunate in Carlisle and surrounding communities. Located at 5 North Orange Street #4, Carlisle, PA, this organization operates in a 23,000 sq. ft. space, provided by Dickinson College rent free and renovated by SHARE, providing room for food storage and distribution, as well as freezer and cooler space, loading docks and a training kitchen.
Over 1,000 families are assisted each month from Project SHARE, receiving a box containing approximately 50 nutritious food items, which equates to approximately one week of groceries for a family of four. This food is free to each family that qualifies for the program, and costs SHARE about $15/box, with a retail value of $175, due to the tremendous amount of community donations and food drives.
That’s where we come in. Our staff at Trindle Self Storage wanted to be a part of Project SHARE’s mission of love and generosity, which is why we are hosting a food drive at our office this fall. Knowing that there are over 1,000 men, women and children living in our local communities that have an income below 150% of the federal poverty level, with 30% of this number being children, we were called to action. No one should have to experience hunger or go without simple, nutritious foods.
So, we’re kindly asking you, our valued customers and friends, to donate a nonperishable item to our collection box the next time you stop in to check on your storage unit. We thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and generosity towards our neighbors that are less fortunate.
